  Purchased Larry Stahl from the San Diego Padres.

  Traded Hal McRae and Wayne Simpson to the Kansas City Royals. Received Roger Nelson and Richie Scheinblum.

• December 1, 1972

  Traded Jim Merritt to the Texas Rangers. Received Jim Driscoll and Hal King.

• January 10, 1973

  Drafted Gary Lucas in the 1st round (21st pick) of the 1973 amateur draft (January), but did not sign the player.

• March 24, 1973

  Received Steve Blateric from the New York Yankees as part of a conditional deal.

• March 27, 1973

  Traded Mel Behney to the Boston Red Sox. Received Phil Gagliano and Andy Kosco.
