  Bill McKechnie player rights sold to the Pittsburgh Pirates for $20,000.

• March 18, 1918

  As part of a 3-team trade, traded a player to be named later to the New York Yankees. Received Lee Magee from the St. Louis Browns. In addition, the New York Yankees sent Tim Hendryx to the St. Louis Browns. The Cincinnati Reds sent Tommy Clarke (April 25, 1918) to the New York Yankees to complete the trade.

  Traded Dave Shean to the Boston Red Sox. Received Rube Foster. Rube Foster refused to report to his new team. The Boston Red Sox sent cash (April 1, 1918) to the Cincinnati Reds to complete the trade.
