  Selected Doc Farrell off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.

• August 18, 1930

  Traded a player to be named later and Mal Moss to Minneapolis (American Association). Received George Kelly. The Chicago Cubs sent Charles Tolson (August 22, 1930) to Minneapolis (American Association) to complete the trade.

  Purchased Jesse Petty from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

• October 13, 1930

  Purchased Les Sweetland from the Philadelphia Phillies.

• October 14, 1930

  Purchased Jakie May from the Cincinnati Reds.

  Traded Bill McAfee and Wes Schulmerich to the Boston Braves. Received Bob Smith and Jimmy Welsh.

  Traded players to be named later, Doc Farrell, Johnny Schulte, Al Shealy, $20,000 and players to be named later to Los Angeles (Pacific Coast). Received Ed Baecht. The Chicago Cubs sent Mal Moss (January 10, 1931) and Vince Barton (March 19, 1931) to Los Angeles (Pacific Coast) to complete the trade.
