Created in 1955 by combining Wilson Teachers College and Miner Teachers College as the District of Columbia Teachers College. On August 1, 1977, the Board of Trustees publicly announced the consolidation of the District of Columbia Teachers College, the Federal City College, and the Washington Technical Institute into the University of the District of Columbia under a single management system. D. C. Teachers College competed for a time in the Maryland Intercollegiate Conference.
