Biographical Information[edit]

Wilfredo Díaz pitched in the minors and for the Puerto Rican national team.

He was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 15th round of the 2005 amateur draft, one round after Scott Van Slyke. He was 1-2 with a 3.67 ERA in 13 games that summer for the GCL Dodgers. Repeating with the same club in 2006, he improved to 3-2, 1.78 with three saves. In 2007, he fell to 3-3, 4.58 for the Ogden Raptors but fanned 61 in 55 innings. He was 0-1 with a 6.39 ERA for the 2008 Great Lakes Loons to wrap up his minor league career at 6-7, 3.89 with 3 saves in 49 games (9 starts). In 125 IP, he struck out 126 and allowed 129 hits and 55 walks.

The Caguas native made three appearances for Puerto Rico in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1 1/3 IP, he allowed one hit and one run (one earned) while striking out one.
