Biographical Information[edit]

Ubisney Bermúdez has been a mainstay of the Las Tunas starting rotation. In 2003-2004, he led the Cuban Serie Nacional with 58 walks. The next season, Ubisney tied for the lead with 10 intentional walks. During 2006-2007, the right-hander led in innings (133 1/3) and hits (145).

Bermúdez was 8-8 with a 5.67 ERA in 2007-2008 and finished among the leaders in hits allowed (132, 7th), runs allowed (70, 5th), earned runs allowed (68, 1st), doubles allowed (27, 2nd, 1 behind Carlos Alberto Yanes) and homers allowed (16, tied for 1st with teammate Wilbert Verdecia). On March 15, he surrendered Alexei Bell's 29th homer of the season, allowing Bell to set the league record. Through that year, he had a 58-57, 5.11 record for his 8-season career.

Ubisney rebounded to go 9-8 with a 4.25 ERA in 2008-2009. He was among the leaders in innings (125, 5th), walks (64, tied for 3rd with Noelvis Entenza) and homers (16, 5th). Bermúdez had a 10-9, 5.25 record in 2009-2010. He tied for 5th in wins, tied Ciro Licea for second in innings, behind Yulieski González. He also led with 87 runs allowed though his 75 earned runs allowed were second, one behind Yoelkis Cruz.
