The Rookie is a 2002 movie based on the true story of the comeback of pitcher Jim Morris, starring Dennis Quaid as Morris. Morris' book, co-written with Joel Engel, came out in 2001 as The Oldest Rookie: Big-League Dreams from a Small-Town Guy. In conjunction with the release of the movie, it was re-released in paperback as The Rookie: The Incredible True Story of a Man Who Never Gave Up on His Dream, with a scene from the film on its cover.
