Biographical Information[edit]
Bernard Hoftyzer was born in Curacao and moved to Aruba when he was a child. He was on the Netherlands Antilles national team in the 1952 Amateur World Series and 1953 Amateur World Series. He hit .240 for them in the 1955 Pan American Games and led the 1959 Central American and Caribbean Games with five steals (one ahead of Manuel Mendible). Usually hitting 5th for the Netherlands Antilles, he was 4 for 18 with two runs. He fielded .933 as a corner outfielder and back-up first baseman. He also played in the 1965 Amateur World Series.
