Biographical Information[edit]

The son of former big league outfielder Al Bumbry, outfielder Steven Bumbry followed his father into the pro ranks. He was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 12th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that summer, hitting .234/.342/.391 with 55 strikeouts in 128 AB in 45 games with the Aberdeen IronBirds. He began the next season with the Delmarva Shorebirds and hit .263/.337/.406 with 131 strikeouts in 372 at-bats. In 2011, he hit .249/.367/.423 with 29 doubles, 12 home runs and 12 stolen bases in 118 games split between Delmarva (9 games) and the Frederick Keys (109 games). He hit .227/.315/.391 with 108 strikeouts in 317 at-bats for the Keys and Bowie Baysox in 2012 and in 2013, he hit .226/.342/.446 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 52 games split between Frederick and Bowie.
