Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher George Dozier played in the minor leagues in 1941 and 1942 and from 1947 to 1951. He peaked at Double-A, with the Atlanta Crackers in 1948, and hit as high as .283 in a season, with the Charleston Rebels in 1947. Overall, he batted around .257 for his career.
He also managed in the minors, leading the Gainesville G-Men to a first place finish in 1949, the Pensacola Fliers to a first place finish in 1950 and the Miami Beach Flamingos to a 6th place finish in 1951. He began 1952 as the skipper of the St. Petersburg Saints, but was replaced by Herschel Held partway through the year.
He served in the United States military during World War II.
He later became a scout.
