SABR Baseball Games Project

The SABR Baseball Games Project is a companion research endeavor to the SABR Baseball Biography Project undertaken by the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). Its objective is to put together accounts of individual games, be they from the major league regular season, the postseason, or the Negro Leagues, as well as selected minor league and other noteworthy games. The accounts are not play-by-play summaries or personal memories of attending or viewing a particular game, but an attempt to place the game into its historical context.

It was originally launched in 2014 with Greg Erion as the project leader. He passed away in 2017 and was replaced by a committee of researchers headed by Mike Huber. The project published its 1000th game account in July 2018.

As of June 3, 2022, the project was led by John Fredland and 3,502 articles had been published. That number jumped to 4,714 on February 16, 2024.
