Biographical Information[edit]
Rey Ordoñez was known for his acrobatic style at shortstop. One technique that he frequently employed on hard grounders to his right was to slide toward the ball on his left leg and his right heel. Then, as the ball entered his glove, he would plant his right toes firmly in the dirt, causing him momentum to bounce off his right leg, giving him extra strength on the throw to first base.
Notable Achievements[edit]
- 3-time NL Gold Glove Winner (1997-1999)
