Biographical Information[edit]

Ray Trava threw a no-hitter in high school. He debuted as a pro with the 1947 Muncie Reds. In 1948, he had a 15-9, 3.73 record as a regular in the Muncie rotation with 207 strikeouts and 112 walks in 215 innings. His catcher that year was Wilbur McConnell, a high school teammate. With the 1949 Sunbury Reds, he fell to 6-10, 5.09. He moved to the Orlando Senators in 1950 and had a good year at 13-4, 3.08. Trava had a 5-9, 5.19 record for the York White Roses. He missed 1952 then was 2-2 for the 1953 St. Hyacinthe A's to end his minor league career at 41-34.
