Biographical Information

Chounia Phothipanya was 2-for-6 with a double, two runs and a RBI as a 17-year-old for the Laotian national team in the 2023 East Asian Baseball Cup. He remained with them for the 2022 Asian Games (held in '23 after delays from COVID-19). He sat out their opener but then played their remaining games, debuting against Singapore when he took over third base as Bee Sengsoulin moved to SS. He was 1-for-10 with a HBP for the Games, but handled 7 chances error-free; his hit came off Thailand's Sakai Phraechai.
