Nyack Rocklands

From BR Bullpen

(Redirected from Nyack Rockies)

The Nyack Rocklands played in the North Atlantic League from 1946-1948 and were affiliates in 1947 of the Philadelphia Athletics. They played as an un-affiliated co-op team in 1946 and in 1948.

According to SABR researcher Gord Brown of Ontario, the Nyack Rocklands played at the High School Field in Nyack, NY (based on information from the "Blue Books" of 1946, 1947 and 1948). The grandstand of the "old High School" of Nyack New York still stands today (and predates the Nyack Rocklands). Judging from this data we assume that this was the original grandstand of the Nyack Rocklands and interviews with the rightfielder of the Stroudsburg Poconos (North Atlantic League) also suggest that this is the original grandstand as well. Stadium grandstand was built according to plaque located on grandstand in 1937. High School Field has since been renamed McCallman Field.
