Biographical Information

Infielder Lou Ertle played in the Los Angeles Dodgers (1960-1963, 1965-1966) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1964) minor league systems. He had a breakout campaign with the Reno Silver Sox in 1961, slashing .289/.376/.500 with 18 home runs, 91 RBI, 34 doubles (tied for California League lead with Dick Nen), 13 triples and 119 runs scored in 140 games; the next year, he hit .230/.339/.332. In 1963 with the Great Falls Electrics, he accomplished a fairly rare feat: 100+ RBI with less than 10 home runs. That year, he had 113 RBI on just 8 dingers.

Overall, he batted .259/.339/.395 with 66 home runs and 456 RBI in 842 games over 7 seasons.
