Louis Womack (also listed as Lewis Womack) went to high school in Miami, played for the 1941-1942 Salisbury Giants (with no decision either year) then joined the Eastern Air team. [1] He was with Eastern Air when they served as Team USA for the 1942 Amateur World Series. [2] While he had already played professionally, he was not the only pro in what was supposed to be an amateur event - Hawaii (not yet a US state) fielded a team in the 1940 Amateur World Series which included NPB veteran Herbert North while Mexican teams of this era routinely utilized Mexican League players. The problem kept up for decades - Team Canada ran into trouble in the 1967 Pan American Games for using four players with pro experience.
