Biographical Information[edit]
Louis Coues Page (1869-1956) was a co-owner of the Boston Braves (known at the time as the Boston Rustlers) who briefly served as team President following the sudden death of principal owner William Russell in November of 1911.
He was born of American parents in Zurich, Switzerland then moved to Boston, MA. He graduated from Harvard University and became a publisher as the owner of L.C. Page & Company. In 1910, he joined Russell in purchasing a controlling interest in the Boston National League baseball team from John P. Harris, a team that would only later become known as the Braves. Russell was the clear principal and was responsible for the day-to-day running of the last-place team as its President. After Russell's passing, Page arranged for the team's sale to James Gaffney and John Montgomery Ward. He died in Boston decades later, in 1956 and his company was acquired by Farrar, Strauss and Cudahy shortly afterwards.
