Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Kelvin Gutierrez was one of three players acquired by the Kansas City Royals from the Washington Nationals in return for namesake Kelvin Herrera on June 18, 2018. The others were Blake Perkins and Yohanse Morel. Gutierrez made his major league debut with the Royals on April 27, 2019 starting at third base and batting 7th against the Los Angeles Angels. He went 1 for 3 with a walk and 2 RBIs, both coming off his first major league hit, a single off Jaime Barria in the 3rd inning.
Gutierrez was originally signed by the Nationals as an amateur free agent on April 10, 2013.
