José Cabrera was a reliever in six big league seasons from 1997 to 2002. He was a solid 7-4, 2.88 in 55 appearances with 2 saves for the NL East champion Atlanta Braves in 2001, but regressed considerably in a swingman role the following year, 2002, for the Milwaukee Brewers, his last nip of the majors (6-10, 6.79, 50 games and 11 starts). He pitched four seasons with varying success in the KBO, going 8-11 with a 3.82 ERA in 126 appearances (15 starts) for two teams from 2004 to 2007, finishing his career with an 11-game stint at the age of 45 in the 2014-2015 Dominican Winter League.
He served as pitching coach of the DSL Tigers 2 in 2019.
