Biographical Information

Jim Bonnici was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 58th round of the 1990 amateur draft and made his pro debut the following summer, hitting .331 for the AZL Mariners. On July 5, 1994, while with the Riverside Pilots, he was hit by a pitch twice in one inning. Playing for the Port City Roosters in 1995, he hit .283 with 20 home runs and 91 RBIs and led the Southern League with 36 doubles. The next year, he hit .292 with 26 homers for the Tacoma Rainiers and was a Pacific Coast League All-Star. After two seasons as a teammate of Ichiro Suzuki with the Orix Blue Wave, he returned to the U.S. in 1999, briefly playing in the Detroit Tigers organization with the Toledo Mud Hens.

Following his playing days, Bonnici became a Tampa Bay Devil Rays scout, most notable for signing Jake Cronenworth and Andy Sonnanstine.
