Biographical Information[edit]
First baseman J.L. Thornton played in the minor leagues on-and-off from 1920 to 1928. With the Corsicana Oilers in 1924, he hit .254 with 117 hits, including 26 doubles, 7 triples and 4 home runs.
He was the last of three managers for the Big Spring Springers in 1928, replacing Poston Baker. He is also listed by Baseball-Reference.com as a skipper of the Big Spring Cowboys in 1929.
