Pitcher Israel Soto led the Cuban Serie Nacional in 2005-2006 with 64 walks for Isla de la Juventud. He was 12-13 with a 5.72 ERA in his first three seasons. In 2007-2008, Soto was 2-5 with a 6.37 ERA and 35 walks in 35 1/3 IP. He then defected from Cuba.

Soto hit 97-99 mph on the radar gun during a November 2009 tryout with the Boston Red Sox.
