Giorge Díaz was a star performer in the 1992 Olympics.

Díaz was with Guantánamo in 1989-1990, leading the Cuban Serie Nacional's eastern division with 17 relief appearances. In 1990-1991, he led Cuba with 22 games pitched. Cuba's youngest player (21 years old) in the 1992 Olympics, he went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA, with just 9 hits in 62 AB. He tied Jeff Alkire, Masanori Sugiura, Osvaldo Fernandez, Chao-Huang Lin and Tomohito Ito for second in the Barcelona Games in wins, one behind Chien-Fu Kuo Lee. He was 4th in ERA behind three 0.00s - Omar Ajete, Rolando Arrojo and Wilfredo Velez. Getting the call in the Gold Medal game, he held Taiwan to four hits, one walk and one unearned run in a 11-1 victory.

Giorge struggled with a league-worst 149 hits allowed in 1992-1993. He still pitched for Cuba in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, giving up 2 hits in 29 AB for the Gold Medalists. He tied for second in wins, trailing only Hidekazu Watanabe.

Díaz led the 1997-1998 Serie Nacional in both complete games (16) and shutouts (6). Overall, he went 70-83 with 11 saves and a 3.81 ERA in 237 games pitched over 10 seasons in Cuba.
