Biographical Information[edit]

Gil Hodges Jr., the son of Gil Hodges, played two seasons in the minors.

The New York Mets took Hodges in the 27th round of the 1971 amateur draft, the last infielder they took that year. He split the summer between the Marion Mets (9 for 21, 2B, HR, 3 BB) and Pompano Beach Mets (.227/.408/.453, 21 BB, 18 RBI, 26 K in 28 G). He fielded .976 for Pompano Beach, backing up Tom Hallums at first base. In 1972, he hit .201/.301/.333 with 45 strikeouts in 60 games for Pompano Beach, fielding .981 at 1B.

After baseball, he worked for The Homefront Protective Group and ran a group to encourage sports among needy kids.
