(Redirected from Geneva, Switzerland)

Geneva, known as Genève in French and Genf in German, is located on the shores of Lake Geneva in the French-speaking section of Switzerland, next to the border of France and 50 km from Lausanne. It was the headquatrers of the League of Nations in the 1920s and 1930s and is the home to a number of institutions of the United Nations system, including the Human Rights Council, the International Labor Organization and the World Trade Organization.

The various cities in the United States named Geneva derive their names from the Swiss city, which was known since the 17th century as a haven of religious tolerance. The School Culture Générale Ella-Maillart is here.
