Frank Mathys pitched for the Belgian national team in three different decades. In the 1978 Amateur World Series, the teenager allowed 19 runs (17 earned), 15 hits (3 homers) and 9 walks while fanning none in 5 1/3 IP; he was 0-1 and his 28.69 ERA was the highest on Belgium's staff. He helped Belgium win a Bronze Medal three times in four Euros - in the 1979 European Championship, 1983 European Championship and 1985 European Championship. He was with Belgium for the 1986 Amateur World Series.

Frank went 3-0 with a 3.33 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 27 innings in the 1995 European Championship to help Belgium win a Bronze. He was 12th in the event in ERA, 7th in WHIP, 1st in wins, 1st in innings and 1st in strikeouts (by nine). He was not named the All-Star pitcher as that honor went to Italy's Massimiliano Masin.
