Biographical Information[edit]
Filomeno Codiñera Jr. played baseball and basketball in college. A third baseman, he was a teammate of the Philippines national team in the 1962 Asian Championship, where his father Filomeno Codiñera Sr. was a teammate. He won Bronze in the 1969 Asian Championship, the Philippines' first Bronze in an Asian Championship. He also starred in softball, hitting seven straight doubles in the 1968 Men's Softball World Championship and hitting a two-out grand slam to beat Mexico in the 1972 Men's Softball World Championship. He later coached both baseball and softball at Adamson University and was president of the Philippines softball association. He also worked as a police officer. His wife Beatriz Guzman was a volleyball player and their three sons all played in the Philippines Basketball Association.
