Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Duane Underwood is also sometimes called Duane Underwood Jr. He was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 2nd round of the 2012 amateur draft, out of Alan C. Pope High School in Marietta, GA, where he was a teammate of Steve Wilkerson, who made his major league debut five days before him in June of 2018. He pitched parts of three seasons for the Cubs, with 1 12 and 17 games respectively from 2018 to 2020. After making his debut as a starter, all of his following appearances were as a reliever. Overall in the three seasons, he went 1-1, 5.20.

At the start of spring training in 2021, he was designated for assignment by the Cubs, then on March 7th was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for 1B Shendrik Apostel.
