Cupertino León has pitched for over a decade in the minor leagues.

León debuted with the 1999 Mexico City Red Devils, going 1-0 with two saves and a 4.99 ERA in 21 games. He was 6-3 with a 4.39 ERA for the 2000 Oaxaca Warriors then fell to 4-8, 5.82 with the '01 Warriors. He allowed 169 hits, 5th-most in the Mexican League. In 2002, the young right-hander was 5-3 with a 2.60 ERA while moving to the bullpen. He was 3-0 with a save and a 2.78 ERA for the 2003 Oaxaca club. He had a 1-2, 3.27 record with two saves in 2004.

In 2005, Cupertino was 7-1 with a 4.53 ERA, followed by a 6-4, 2.65 campaign with one save in '06. The next year, the Ignacio de la Llave native went 5-2 with a 3.49 ERA. The veteran turned in a season of 1-2, 5.22 in 2008, which he split between Oaxaca and the Campeche Pirates. In 2009, he joined the Reynosa Broncos and was 4-0 with a 3.35 ERA, walking only 7 in 48 1/3 innings. He was 6-2 with a save and a 4.09 ERA in 54 outings for the '10 Broncos then played for Mexico in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.
