Biographical Information[edit]

Chris Ryba was a standout performer for Stony Brook University during the 1972 and 1973 seasons. Following the 1973 season, Ryba became the first Stony Brook baseball player to be drafted when he was selected by the New York Mets in the 17th round of the 1973 amateur draft.

Ryba spent two seasons with the Batavia Trojans of the New York-Penn League. In 1973, Ryba finished with a 2-4 record and a 4.09 earned run average. Ryba appeared in 11 games, including 8 starts, 2 complete games and a shutout. In 44 innings pitched, he struck out 38 hitters. In 1974, Ryba went 2-3 with a 5.69 earned run average. He pitched in 12 games, including 8 starts, striking out 31 in 49 innings.
