Biographical Information[edit]
Björn Hato, son of Wendell Hato, played in the minors for two years. He played for the Netherlands in the 2008 World Junior Championship. He was an outfielder for the Dutch squad in the 2009 European Junior Championship, hitting .357/.400/.357 with 8 runs. That season, he also made his Hoofdklasse debut, scoring a run as a pinch-runner for Kinheim. He signed with the New York Mets in December 2009 after being scouted by Lionel Chattelle. He won the 2009 Ron Fraser Award.
Hato debuted in the minors on May 30, 2010, going 2 for 3 with a walk, run and 2 RBI for the DSL Mets 2.
