Biographical Information[edit]

William Selden was a pre-Negro League pitcher who started his career in 1887 with the Boston Resolutes. He also pitched for the Trenton Cuban Giants later that year. After 1889, he joined the York Monarchs when the Cuban Giants "moved" there. He had the most wins with a record of 15-6, a 2.63 ERA, and 100 strikeouts. He played his final game in 1899 with the Cuban X-Giants. In the 1890s, he began acting in vaudeville plays during the offseason. [1]
