Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Alfredo Conton spent five years in the minor leagues, playing from 1956 to 1959 and in 1961. He batted .281 in 357 games. He had previously played for the Dominican national team in the 1952 Amateur World Series; his .350 average ranked 6th.

Notable seasons include 1957, when he batted .303 in 98 games for the Wausau Lumberjacks and the next year, also with Wausau, when he had 12 triples and 16 stolen bases in 118 games.

He faced racism with the 1958 Palatka Redlegs, not being able to live or eat with his teammates due to the color of his skin. The Dominican also played for the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League.
