2012 Olympics

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games were held in London, England. Baseball was not featured on the program, however, either as an official or as a demonstration sport, as it was dropped by the International Olympic Committee following the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, after having been on the official program since the 1992 Olympics and having been a demonstration sport at the 1984 Olympics and 1988 Olympics.

Ironically, the London Olympic Stadium, built for the games, is scheduled to become the first venue anywhere in Europe to host a major league baseball game, in June 2019.
