7+ Pitchers in a 9 Inning Post-Season DH Game
Posted by Raphy on October 10, 2010
The Rangers used 7 pitchers in their 9 inning game vs. the Rays on Saturday. They become the 5th team with a DH to use at least that many pitchers in a regulation post-season game. The Rangers used 8 in Game 4 of the ALDS in 1996.

Interesting that all five teams lost.

@1, Chuck -- I thinnk if a team has to use seven or more pitchers, the team is in trouble is headed for a loss!
Interesting that three of the four were against the same team, or franchise, the Yankees. The first one in 1981 threw me. It's been so long now that I forgot the Brewers were in the AL. It's still amazing that Selig pulled that off. Then again when he owns the team and is Commissioner, it's not really surprising at all. I wonder he hasn't picked some year and simply declared the Brewers World Series winners.

This year, the Rays were 7-2 in games in which they used 7 or more pitchers, so a loss is far from inevitable.
