Applying A Little RE24

Posted by Steve Lombardi on April 23, 2010

RE24, or "Base-Out Runs Added," is the difference in run expectancy between the start of the play and the end of the play. That difference is then credited/debited to the batter and the pitcher.

So, since 2008, which batters in baseball have had the most games with RE24 greater than or equal to 2? Thanks to Baseball-Reference.com's Play Index Batting Game Finder, we have the answer:

This is an interesting list. Surprised to see someone so high or low on it? Surprised to see someone on it, period, while someone else is missing the cut of 24+ such games? In each case...who?

How did you get RE24 working the in the play index? It always says query broken when I run it find a certain RE24 or WPA.

  2. Steve Lombardi Says:

I found setting it for whole numbers, instead of numbers with a decimal, works.

But that means it is broken.
