Here are the most PAs in a season with an OBP of 0. Yes, zero.

Jay Bergmann set the record this past season. If you look at the rightmost column, you can see that all of these guys were pitchers except for Hal Finney.
Eliminating pitchers from consideration, here are the top seasons:

Nigel Wilson was the Florida Marlins' first pick in the expansion draft and the number 2 overall selection following David Nied by the Colorado Rockies. Neither guy turned out well, but at least Nied did turn in some solid games for the Rockies. Wilson going 0-for-the-season wasn't exactly what the Marlins had in mind, I expect.

Wow, John Lackey has never been on base! Hopefully he'll berak that streak before his playing career ends.

What's with the "a" at the end of the post?
March 4th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
Odd that Nelson Liriano shows up on both the most PA with an OBP of zero list and the list from a few days back of most consecutive pinch-hitting appearances with an RBI.

In his PA, Bergman made it 3 balls only once. He also manged to get the ball into the outfield 5 times.

The "a" at the end was a leftover from when I write the posts originally. It would take a while to explain and is pretty boring. I've removed it.

Rick Wise sure turned things around on 6/23/71 @ CIN

Pierce scored a run, so he was on base in the literal sense, even though his OBP was .000. He got on by a FC and scored later.
Lackey also got on by FC (once), but didn't score.
I believe Von McDaniel literally never did get on base.
