6 times on base, no R or RBI

Posted by Andy on January 2, 2009

Here's another tidbit gleaned from Jayson Stark's year-in-review column on ESPN.com. He noted that Matt Holliday had a game this year where he got on base 6 times but didn't score or drive in a run.

Including Holliday's game, that's been done 17 times since 1956:

George Brett and Steve Brye actually got on base 7 times without getting a R or RBI. This sort of "record" has a lot more to do with the player's teammates than it does himself, of course.

One Response to “6 times on base, no R or RBI”

  1. TheGoof Says:

Only in the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry could there be a 12-11 game in which a player would reach base six times without scoring or driving in a run! Of course, he did move up two guys who scored, including the winning run.
