Seeing Tony Fernandez here is interesting. Most have a different memory of him from that 1997 post-season. And, special credit to Dwight Evans and Cecil Cooper - for making this list in the pre-wildcard days.

And Coop only had a best-of-five LCS.

I'm fairly certain Bernie in 2004 is the only one who didn't go to the Series.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:02 pm
And he made the list consecutive years and three times overall.

Look at all the STEROIDS! (dismissive gesture)

(1) Bonds' postseason line before 2002: 27 games, 196 BA, .299 SLG, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 12 Runs, 17 BB (2 IBB), 20 SO, combined WPA -0.516.
In 2002: 17 games, .356 BA, .978 SLG, 8 HR, 16 RBI, 18 Runs, 27 BB (13 IBB), 6 SO, combined WPA 1.202.
(2) I'm not some World Series purist or anything, but I like to give equal time in these threads to all those guys before 1969 who only had the one postseason series.
So, most games with 1+ RBI in one World Series:
-- 6, Bill Skowron, 1960. (Oddly, the Moose had exactly 1 ribby in each of those games.)
-- 5, by 19 different players, including Hank Greenberg twice.
Here's another oddity: Of the 21 WS in which one player had 5 or more games with an RBI, his team lost the Series 11 times.

It's all relative. But George Davis drove in 6 in the 1906 World Series in only 3 games as the White Sox beat the Cubs. A-Rod is merely the George Davis of the 21st Century,

I was expecting Carlos Beltran up there. Didn't he have an absolutely epic postseason with the Astros?

@Ellis- Yes, he hit 8 home runs in 2004 (without reaching the World Series!) but two were in one game and he didn't drive in any runs in games that he did not hit a home run (also a bit strange).

This is a real "meh" entry. All but two are in the wild card era. Props to Dewey Evans and Cecil Cooper, I guess.

The play index can do a WS-only search. It'd be fun to see Billy Martin and Pepper Martin show up on these types of lists. (Maybe not for RBI's, but they had some great WS)

The year 2002 is well represented...

I don't care what anyone else says, I'm always up for epic Bondsianism!
