@4 That is funnny haha, i have to go with the Phillies since once again the Royals didn't make it, i would just love to see the Phillies pitchers just completely dominate this postseason.

The Phillies. But...
I don't think the Yankees have a serious shot at getting to the World Series. They'll have to go through Tampa, and they just haven't gotten it done there the past three months. Price recently showed he can whip them in their own house....which could be the crucial point for the Rays in a 7 game series.
Though a team like the Reds would be fun to see play in the Series. Exactly 20 years ago they won their last title.
I'd really love to see the Twins & their fans rock Target field through October too.
Maybe I sound silly, there's something exciting about the prospect of a Phillies-Rays rematch of the '08 Series. I'm hopin' to see that more than anything

Phillies and Yanks in WS and Phillies win in 6. I really don't think the Rays have enough hitting to beat the Yanks. I think Texas beats the Rays and the Yanks beat Texas in 6 or 7. The Yanks lineup hasn't really been whole for the past month with Girardi over-managing and thus sitting players everyday. The Phillies should steamroll in NL unless the Giants pitchers pitch lights out which is certainly a possibility.

I am a Yankee fan, my heart says the Yankees, but my head says the Phillies. The Phils top 3 starters can match up with anybody and they probably have the best offense in the NL. Right now, with the way the Yanks pitch, I would be surprised if they get past Minnesota. After Sabathia, not one member of the rotation has distinguished himself in the 2nd half. From Burnett being a complete headcase, to Pettite being out for two months, to Vasquez doing his best 2004 impersionation, to the Yankee brass screwing up Phil Hughes like they did to Chamberlain, the staff is very flawed. The bullpen has been overworked in the second half which never bodes well

I think part of the reason the Phillies are doing so well in the poll is that they're much more likely to make it to the series than any other of the major contenders, at least in people's minds, as the road through the NL seems much easier than the road through the AL

I disagree with @11. It is obviously because of the best playoff rotation since perhaps 90s braves.
Anyone wanna weigh in on Halladay's playoff virginity? That may be my only concern, since the phils have just about everything else covered and going down 0-1 wouldn't bode well in a best of 5.

I regrettably voted the Yankees. I don't know who I'm rooting for yet (other than anyone but the Yankees), but I would love to see a Rangers-Reds WS just because it would be so far out of left field given the recent states of those two teams.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Phillies play the Reds in the NLDS. The teams played 7 games this year, 4 of which went to extra innings and 4 of which were decided by 1 run. Of course I'm going to stand by the Phils, but should the Reds beat them in the NLDS I hope that Cincinnati gets to the Series. From what I've seen, they're a really fun team to watch.

I'd like to say the Rays, but without word on Longoria, it's hard to make them any type of favorite. Both them and the Yankees seemed like they had no interest in winning the division. Which obviously isn't the case, since both teams sure as hell wanted to, but neither executed particularly well. At full strength, over 162 games, I think they are by far the two best teams in the sport. But neither is at full strength. And neither has the luxury of a 162-game series.

Is it just me, or does it seem there is more anticipation about the postseason this year? For me, part of that is having a nice mix of returning powerhouses, teams that have made the playoffs recently but seem more likely to go all the wayt thiyear, and some newcomers.
I vote Twins, but I have no rationale to back it up other than they moved from a dome to an outdoor stadium and I would like to see some sort of karmic reward. Plus, that would increase the chances of a WS game played in carharts and sorels.

As for the Yankee bullpen --i don't think they're burned out at all --Girardi rested them to a fault. If anything they weren't as sharp b/c of not enough use. They pitched Mitre, Nova, Gaudin and Royce in numerous big spots the past 2-3 weeks.

Well, I'm a Reds fan & Cincy resident too. Unfortunatly, I voted for the Phillies. I then realised, if this were true, Reds wouldn't continue any further than they already have. I'd love to eat my words.
I was also rooting for the Padres, but they lost out on game 162. Shame. But anyhow, I hope to not see the Phillies or Yankees in the WS again, but that's not all to realistic. Here's hoping for Reds/ Rangers, with Reds winning in 7. That's my fingers-crossed unlikely hope.

makes me remember what it's like to be a Tiger's fan- once the reality has sunk in that your team sucks, you instantly start rooting for the most ridiculous alternative. GO REDS!!!!!!!

Phillies H2O (Halladay, Hamels, and Oswalt......just to notify any Yankees fans of what H2O is!) The Phils 3 man pitching rotation is going to dominate the NLCS. And what about Doc's no-no the other night!!!
