What's the word I'm looking for here? Oh, yeah...

    OUCH !!!

  2. Bryan Mueller Says:

People know when they come to a game that there is a chance...better yet a certainty that a ball is going to be hit in the stands. This guy has no one to blame but himself. This is what I as a parent call a "natural consequence."

  3. Spartan Bill Says:

He should have disabled the BALL WAITING feature

  4. Fireworks Says:

Excellent. Get off the cellphone ya idiot.

  5. XZPUMAZX Says:

I like how he tried to nonchalantly swat the ball away just before it smashed him in the face. I can only hope he bled.

  6. Jonathan Says:

Seriously, guys? That could have been any of us. What if his kid was calling? Does he still deserve to bleed?

  7. Frank Clingenpeel Says:

I have to agree. Being made a fool of in front of all the fans -- not to mention probably a television audience, everyone who read this blog, or saw the clip...heck, that probably even made ESPN. I would say that this schmuck has paid enough; bleeding would be pointless.

  8. Thomas Says:

No, that couldn't have been any of us. Some of us actually pay attention to the game, or better yet, don't take our phone in. I'm not rooting for blood like some people, but at the same time, what are the odds it was his kid or even something relevant? The odds are pretty damn good it was, "hey, I'm in the front row!"

  9. Johnny Twisto Says:

Does he still deserve to bleed?

    Yes.

This is completely off-topic, but this kills me...K-Rod, for the 5th time in 6 outings, got the first guy out then gave up a hit to the second guy he faced. Weird! Also, the Marlins had eight guys with exactly two hits until a bloop single with 1 out in the ninth (again K-Rod)! I know there was a post a while ago about exactly one hit per batter...how about two?

  11. Larry R. Says:

The judges and jury have spoken...he's guilty as charged. How do any of you know why that call was placed? I hate cell phones as much as anyone (in fact, I don't even use one) but what's with the lynch mob mentality?

  12. Bryan Mueller Says:

Maybe he was calling his dentist...

  13. Andy Says:

    LAF LAF LAF #12

  14. Lawrence Azrin Says:

All I can think of is Bob Uecker declaring "That's gotta HUUUUUUURT!!!!"

  15. Whiz Says:

He's lucky it was on the bounce -- it would have hurt a lot more on the fly.

  16. Frank Clingenpeel Says:

Man! I need to check my senility monitor -- when Whiz said that, I grimaced; I thought of how painful it would be to get hit IN the fly !!!

All of the sudden, thinking of that, a little blood-letting doesn't seem quite as bad!

At least he wasn't using his iPad -- oh, wait, it's Yankee Stadium...
