Bloop: Infinite Baseball Card Set
Posted by Neil Paine on June 24, 2010
Today we got an e-mail from artist Gary Cieradkowski, who runs a very cool project called the Infinite Baseball Card Set. I'll let Gary describe the site to you:
"I am proud to present the first series of The Infinite Baseball Card Set! These are all
original drawings along with painstakingly researched stories and stats on the back. The
Infinite Baseball Card Set started out as a blog where I illustrate a baseball card or
two a week showcasing a forgotten player, semi-pro superstar, negro league player or
otherwise interesting character from baseball's back rooms and basement. Victor Starffin,
Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson and Eiji Sawamura, they're all here in the set. If you
are interested in baseball's great history, you will love these cards.Inspired by the beautiful simplicity of the turn-of-the-century tobacco cards, the 2" x 3
1/2" cards are wonderfully illustrated by award-winning artist Gary Cieradkowski, the
designer of the graphics at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. This is intended to be the first series of many to come and there will only be 1,000 sets
of 20 art cards, hand numbered on the wrapper they are contained in."
You can buy series 1 of the set here, or to just look at samples of the artwork and read some of Gary's stories about the players, go to his blog.

In '07 Rollins was pretty clutch - 2.69 WPA (second on his team to Howard, just 0.1 ahead of Burrell)
In '07 Wright was better - 4.15 WPA (first on his team by almost 2.0)
So who was more valubale to his team? Without Wright the Mets are never in the position to collapse. Wait, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I purchased and have rec'd the first series of The Infinite Baseball Card Set. I had a terrific afternoon opening the set and discovering the cards. The design is great, really nice cards. But, even better, on the backs are baseball and biographical anecdotes about the player or person on the front of the card. At his website, Gary says he took alot of time researching each subject to come up with some quality verse on the back of the cards. He succeded and am I very satisfied that I have added this cards to my collection.

Thanks for posting this on your great site! I visit this site several times a day doing research for my cards and it is priceless resource. And to Charles, thank you so much for your review of my cards. It really means a lot to me to hear from people who purchase a set. This project is something I am very proud of and to hear someone give it such high praise make the whole thing worth while!
