10+ hits

The Phillies and the A's both have 10 hits in 4 games this year:
Rk | Tm | Year | #Matching | W | L | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | PHI | 2010 | 4 | 3 | 1 | Ind. Games |
2 | OAK | 2010 | 4 | 4 | 0 | Ind. Games |
The Athletics scored 24 runs in their 4 games and went 4-0. However they have played 5 games in total and got just 5 hits in their Opening Day loss. The Phillies, meanwhile, have gotten 10 hits in all 4 of their games so far, scoring 32 runs in their games but winning only 3 of them.
Here are the leaders among teams from 2009 in 10-hit games:
Rk | Tm | Year | #Matching | W | L | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | LAA | 2009 | 91 | 68 | 23 | Ind. Games |
2 | NYY | 2009 | 82 | 62 | 20 | Ind. Games |
3 | MIN | 2009 | 79 | 59 | 20 | Ind. Games |
4 | FLA | 2009 | 77 | 54 | 23 | Ind. Games |
5 | BAL | 2009 | 74 | 45 | 29 | Ind. Games |
Obviously 10 hits is a good selection criterion for finding games that had a good chance of being wins. Even the Orioles, who won fewer than 40% of their games last season, won more than 60% of the 74 games with at least 10 hits last season. (That means they went 19-69, 0.215 W-L%, in the games with fewer than 10 hits...ouch.)
On a totally unrelated note, I was surprised to see how bad Oakland's attendance has been so far. Check it out:

Those first 4 games against the Mariners were all home games. I'm surprised both by the drop-off after Opening Day and just how low the subsequent games were in attendance.

Just pointing out a typo: the As and Phillies have played 4 games this year, not 44.

My 4 key must be sticky, heh. Thanks.

Oakland's attendance drop-off is nothing compared to the 1982 Indians:
Game 1: 62,443
Game 2: 3,821
