Well, Isn’t That Special?

Some fun via Baseball-Reference.com's Play Index Post-Season Batting Event Finder - all extra inning homers hit in a sudden-death post-season game. There's just been one:
Cr# | Gm# | Date | Series | Gm# | Batter | Tm | Opp | Pitcher | Score | Inn | RoB | Out | Pit(cnt) | RBI | Play Description |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 1 | 2003-10-16 | ALCS | 7 | Aaron Boone | NYY | BOS | Tim Wakefield | tied 5-5 | b11 | --- | 0 | 1 (0-0) | 1 | *ENDED GAME*:Home Run (Fly Ball) |

Bernie Williams, David Ortiz and Javy Lopez are the only guys to do it twice.

Can you group that list by players with most times achieving it? A quick scan shows Bernie and Javy Lopez with multiples.

Playoff Baseball returned with a bang in 1995 - Both ALDS, the ALCS and the NLCS each had at least 1 extra inning HR. The ALDS specifically - SEA/NYY had a 2 extra-ining HR game and CLE/BOS had a 3(!) extra-ining HR game.

Andy, if you click on the batter header in the chart, it groups them by batter.

Duh, and I also didn't read the last line of your post.

Funny that Todd Pratt is on the second list, but Robin Ventura is not.

I was fortunate enough to be at the 2001 D-back/Yanks Series for game 4 and 5, and watched game 7 live in Rockefeller Center on a Jumbo-tron with at least a thousand fans. It has to be ranked "best series" ever. 3 walk-off hits, 4 one run games, not to mention that including those 3 walk-offs, the Yankees tied both game 4 and 5 in the ninth inning to send both contests into extra innings. While those two homers to tie the game in the ninth are not on the list, I think any homer that sends a game into extra innings deserves the same reverence as an extra inning HR.
As a New Yorker, only 7 weeks removed from 9/11, I have to say those games carried so much more weight than your average WS game. I can still feel the stadium shaking and fondly remember Paul Oneil's final Yankee Stadium AB.
For many reasons; THE BEST SERIES EVER!!!

right-centerfield fence, but he was tackled by celebrating
teammates before he reached second and was credited with a
'grand-slam single' instead;

Dear Lord, why did you have to make this post? I was so happy about baseball season ... now I can't stop thinking about that awful, awful, awful game. Grady bleepin' Little broke my heart into a million little pieces. The fact that Wake - one of the best guys ever to play in Beantown, and maybe the biggest reason that series made it to seven - gave up that home run to Aaron "Crappy Journeyman" Boone was such a cruel injustice ... I can't talk about this anymore.
