Congrats to Tom Glavine for his 300th win.
A few stats:
Lowest career batting averages against Glavine, minimum 50 PAs:

Glavine in his career against current HOF batters:

How odd that Ozzie Smith has the best BA and, particularly, SLG against Glavine.
And Glavine himself is a pretty good hitter. Here are his career-best batting averages, minimum 10 PAs:
PA AB H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO **BA** OBP SLG OPS SH SF IBB HBP GDP G_miss YR_miss +-----------------+---+---+---+--+--+--+---+---+---+---------+-----+-----+-----+---+---+---+---+---+------+-------+ Terry Mulholland 10 8 4 1 0 0 2 1 1 .500 .556 .625 1.181 1 0 0 0 0 John Smiley 17 11 4 1 0 1 1 1 1 .364 .417 .727 1.144 5 0 0 0 0 Livan Hernandez 19 15 5 0 0 0 0 2 3 .333 .412 .333 .745 2 0 0 0 1 Hideo Nomo 11 9 3 1 0 0 0 0 1 .333 .333 .444 .777 2 0 0 0 0 John Thomson 14 12 4 0 0 0 1 2 2 .333 .429 .333 .762 0 0 0 0 0 Dwight Gooden 10 7 2 0 0 0 0 2 3 .286 .444 .286 .730 1 0 0 0 0 Andy Ashby 13 11 3 0 0 0 2 2 1 .273 .385 .273 .658 0 0 0 0 0 Andy Benes 25 22 6 0 0 0 2 0 4 .273 .273 .273 .546 3 0 0 0 1 Bob Tewksbury 11 8 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 .250 .250 .250 .500 3 0 0 0 0
And finally, a link to a very special box score, the game in which Glavine hit his only home run (to date), a game that the Braves won 2-1.

In your HOF list, don't forget the just-inducted Tony Gwynn.

Cal Ripken was 0 for 4 off Glavine.

Excellent points, folks.
The reason they didn't come up on the search is because the site hasn't yet been updated to designate Gwynn and Ripken as HOFers. I'm not sure if that will happen soon or during the offseason. (I just contribute to this blog!)

By the way, one of the things I love about blogging is the ease with which readers can add/correct information. Our collective intellectual resources are certainly vastly greater than my own. I try hard to write complete and correct posts, but mistakes do happen from time to time.

I wholeheartedly agree. Please don't take the once-in-a-while correction as criticism -- to the contrary, if I offer a correction or qualification now and then it's because I'm reading this highly entertaining blog with deserved attention.

That's Web 2.0, baby!

In that Web 2.0 spirit, I'll point out that I've got a blog going over at http://www.metaforian.blogspot.com, which does some similar sorts of things that you do here at Stat of the Day, except with a Mets slant. Any input/corrections/critiques you or your readers have is welcome.
