Sports Reference's New Blog: Stathead
I have to admit that I find it very hard to follow all of the great research that people people are producing every day on the web. Just for baseball, culling through the good stuff on Baseball Prospectus, Hardball Times and FanGraphs is hard enough, but when you add in team blogs, other stathead blogs and everything else, it becomes impossible. This doesn't even include trying to locate recent research in hockey, basketball, football and soccer.
So we've decided to do something about it. Every weekday, the Stathead blog will summarize the best research-related studies, news, conferences, and resources for baseball, basketball, football, hockey and soccer.
The blog will primarily be edited by Neil Paine and will typically feature 20-30 links to analytic content around the internet. We've been working out the format over the last two weeks, and we think you'll soon appreciate our concise summaries for all of the articles we write about.
Feedback as always is welcome.

"Concise summaries" -- I like the sound of that!
(But Neil will be available to explain the parts I still don't get, right? Right?!?)

Is there any way you can get the sport(s) in question to appear in the RSS feed as displayed in Google Reader?

regarding the feed. Go to the section and add "feed/" to the end of the url.

where can you access the elorater now that this replaced the link at the top of the site?

Great idea-- will definitely be using this new feature.
Small suggestion: highlight the article source (ie website and/or content provider) in a different colored font as opposed to black italics to allow the reader a more pronounced means of sorting/prioritizing via preference.

I like suggestion #5. Personally I find the current format to bit a bit of a 'data dump' and sort of overwhelming to try to read.

Definitely sort by sport -- some of us are interested in just one sport.

@4 Cubbies, if you go into your history and can find a matchup there, you can click on it and bring up the rater. That appears to be the only way right now. Elo is indexed under frivolities, but there's no link there.

For looking at a specific sport click on it in the nav bar above the logo.
For the elo rater, each player page has a link to the rater just above their pitching or batting stats
