Josh Beckett is streaking

Speaking of streaks of good game scores, here are Josh Beckett's longest streaks with Game Scores of at least 71:

He's on a 3-game streak right now and has easily been the Red Sox's best starting pitcher this season (most IP, lowest ERA, fewest HR yielded, most K...)

Beckett is really on. I felt at the time that it was bad karma he wasn't given the ball opening day. He's grabbed the anchor role anyway.

Beckett is a tough son of a bitch. He had every excuse to fold up this season...screwed by the team, terrible start for Boston, fat guaranteed extension, speculation (including by me) that he was injured and couldn't be expected to perform well. And what has he done? Gone out there and blown everybody away. For a guy who's had some very gutty performances in his career, this latest one might be the most impressive.

Beckett is on the 'good' turn of his good year/ bad year cycle. I don't know why he's like that. If you see the snap on his hook (curve) you know right away whether he's 'got it' or not. I don't know if it means he'll 'have it' all year---------but right now, as long as his curve is biting, indications are that he'll be dominant.

Beckett, to me, has always been a tough SOB----in that he will pitch when he's not 100%. It's just that he's SO ineffective, it seems, when he's not 100% physically. Give him credit for taking the ball when others might not------but he can be awful when he's not 100%. Schilling was a guy who figured out how to battle and stay in there even when he was physically hampered. Beckett has not been that guy. I don't know what it is. Pedro Martinez, for all of the grief he gets about being a primadonna, was VERY tough and would battle and stay in there, keep you in the game, when he was slinging slop up there.

But as long as Josh feels fine and has that curve snapping----he can be as dominant as he was in the 2003 WS & 2007 playoffs.
