Last night, Cliff Lee and Neftali Feliz allowed just 3 Yankees to reach base, the fewest ever for one of their playoff games:

Andy, this is a bit of a nit-pick, but ... For the sake of clarity, I hope you will rework your opening sentence: "Last night, Cliff Lee allowed just 3 Yankees to reach base, the fewest ever for one of their playoff games:"
Lee did allow just 3 baserunners, but he didn't pitch the whole game.

@4, Has any started allowed fewer base runners than Lee did last night to the Yankees in a post-season game? In that first list none have. So, Andy was right the first time. I could be wrong...

What do you mean by the Yankees having appeared in "361 player games"? Do you mean the members of the current Yankees' roster have appeared in 361 player-games? Or that the Yankees as a franchise have played in 361 postseason games?

In this series, the Yanks have scored 8 runs while making 81 outs. 5 of the 8 runs came in between outs 21 and 22 (i.e. with 0 outs in 8th inning of game 1). Obviously it is a miracle (for Yankee fans) the Rangers are not going for the sweep tonight.
Side note - I believe it is a good decision to start A.J. Burnett tonight. This is not because I think he will definitely pitch well, but I think the potential is there for him to pitch a great game. Plus CC hasn't exactly been lighting it up in his 2 previous starts.

I didn't see that game on October 18, 2004. I didn't even know about it until a few days later. The day after the 19-8 Yankee win that put them up 3 games to none in the ALCS, I went on a vacation to some national parks where I didn't pay much attention to the news, even though there were TVs in the rooms where I stayed. I was so sure that the Yankees had swept that I didn't even want to know more about it. I'm not even much of a Red Sox fan, but after what had happened in Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, I really felt bad for them.
The night of 2004's Game 7, I checked into a motel with a computer in the lobby. Somewhere, I read about the Red Sox coming back to tie the series and force that game, and they were about to win that one, too. I went back to my room and watched the rest of the game on TV.
The dates in October 2010 are falling on the same days of the week as those in October 2004. The timing of the League Championship Series is off by a few days. But I wish I could be on a National Parks vacation this week and not seeing what's happening to the Phillies.
