Striking Out Half the Time in the Post Season
Posted by Raphy on October 19, 2010
As Steve mentioned earlier, the Rangers struck out the Yankees 15 times in Monday's ALCS game. In fact, not only did the Yankees strike out a lot, but even when they made contact they didn't hit. They became just the 4th team in post-season history to strikeout in at least half of their plate appearances. Here are the previous three.

Perhaps the Yanks can find some inspiration in game 7 of the '68 World Series, when the Tigers finally snapped Gibson's 7-game WS win streak. (And it wouldn't hurt if Hamilton would misjudge a fly ball with the bases loaded....)

Clemens, Brown + Hoffman, and Gibson. Sounds like fitting company for Lee's start.

In New York this feat is known as a "Soriano."
